The raid was carried out as part of ongoing investigations into drugs related crime in the city.

Two people, a man and a woman in their teens were arrested and taken to Mayorstone Garda station following the raid, but were later released without charge.

A file has been sent to the Director of Public Prosecutions and the drugs have been sent to Dublin for forensic examination..

Gavin and Millie: Doubts hang over Christmas trip home

Saturday, December 23rd, 2006

Doubts are hanging over the possibility of Gavin and Millie Murray being able to spend Christmas Day with their brothers and sisters in Limerick.

The Limerick Leader (City Edition) reported today that Millie was due in surgery on Friday after one of her skin grafts “split.”

According to the paper, this is not too much to worry about as this can happen in some skin graft patients, and doctors have procedures in place to deal with it routinely. However, it puts doubt into the possibility of her being well enough to go home on Sunday.

Millie has made great strides in her road to recovery, but the staff at Our Lady’s Hospital in Crumlin cannot be too careful.

There is good news though, the Murray family have moved into their new home , which has been selected to acomodate the physiotherapy needs of the two children.

Let us hope that even if they cannot go home for Christmas Day, they will be able to go home for a day or two between Christmas and New Years, so that they can get a taste of the Christmas spirit at home.

It all RLOver

Friday, December 22nd, 2006

The game of hide and seek between those behind Radio Limerick One, and ComReg is over after nearly nine years.

Following last weeks raid on the William Street studio, Hannan was initially defiant, telling the City Edition of the Limerick Leader that his station would be back on air in a matter of days.

However, he finally conceded to the regulator in an interview with the Limerick Post, saying that he was now finished with illegal broadcasting for good.

He expects to be brought before a judge in the new year, however he did admit that unlike previous encounters with ComReg, the folks who visitid him on the night of the raid were respectful and courteous to both himself and his guest in the studio.

105.2 will not stay quiet for long however, after the final demise of Radio Limerick One, there are plans afoot to start a religious station on the frequency. The station will be called Serenity FM and will be headed up by Father Joe Young.
