Riverfest stuff
Well someone’s got to do the online promotion of this, it might as well be us.
Some of the things we can expect at Riverfest are given a mention in today’s Limerick Chronicle. One of the highlights is the visit to the city of the training vessel Asgard II.(pictured above)
The vessel will be open to the public from Friday, May 4th until Monday May 7th.
There will also be an opportunity for someone to win a week’s training on the Asgard II during the summer.
The naval ship LE Aoife will also be in Limerick, and will be taking part in the Silver Dart Ceremony.
The Silver Dart Ceremony involvs the Mayor going out into the middle of the Shannon and tossing a dart into it. Where the dart lands is meant to signify the location of the City’s boundary.
There will also be the BBQ cook off and the River Shenanigans, as well as the street theatre.
The main sponsor for Riverfest will be the Limerick Mariot Hotel, which, like limerickriverfest.com, isn’t finnished yet, but they are close.
