Demolition in Delmage welcomed

Bungalows in Delmage Park in Moyross are introduced to Mr. Wrecking ball – All Pictures: Maurice Quinlivan

The demolition work in Delmage Park goes on with eight bungalows being introduced to the wrecking ball on Thursday.

The demolition of these houses are being welcomed by Sinn Féin activist and former election candidate Maurice Quinlivan.

Today’s [Thursday] demolition of 8 Bungalows in Delmege Park is very welcome. I have had serious concerns for some time about the bungalows in Delmege Park, concerns which I have expressed to the council on a number of occasions and I am very pleased that they were demolished and removed [Thursday] and would like to commend the council for this action.”

As is almost always the case, properties which have been left fall into disrepair have become a magnet for scumbag activity, or as Mr. Quinlivan more politely puts it, “Anti-social behaviour.

The presence of what he described as “eyesores” and their attraction of undesireables was making live near impossible for local residents.
