1897: Limerick 3-4 Kilkenny 2-4
The final was played in Tipperary town on the 20th Nov.Limerick were represented by the Kilfinane Club,Killkenny by Tullaronan.It was an intense game which either side could have won on the day.It turned out to be Limerick’s historic first All Ireland title.Mick Downes played that day for Limerick, his medal from that year will shortly go on display at the Hunt Museum in Limerick from Sept.14.Interestingly the Director of the Hunt Museum Virginia Teehan,her gran uncle played for Killkenny’s Tullaronan that day.

1934: Limerick 5-2 Dublin 2-6

1936: Limerick 5-6 Kilkenny 1-5
The Final was played in Croke Park on 6Th Sept. 51,235 was in attendance. It was a tight for three quarters of the game, youth, dash and vigour swung it Limerick’s way on the day. Mick Mackey was the captain.

1940: Limerick 3-7 Kilkenny 1-7 The teams crossed sticks again in Croke Park .A tight game it turned out to be, Killkenny leading 1-4 to 1-2 at half time. It was a tough physical second half and Limerick ran out winners. Mick Mackey lifted the cup for the Shannonsiders.

1973: Limerick 1-21 Kilkenny 1-14 The final was played in Croke Park in very difficult weather conditions, and both sides gave an exhibition on the day.Richie Bennis the current Limerick manager played for Limerick that day. It also proved to be the last time Limerick won an All Ireland title.
