He was always a rock of a player for Limerick FC. I think that's probably Anthony 'Bubbles' Tobin in the second last photo as well on the right. I remember that day. It was supposed to be a hush-hush practice game until word spread and half the town headed for UL! Has anybody got a list of players from the day? That would be interesting. Republic had been walking away with the group at that stage until it all went a-ways. Iirc, we ended up going out to Holland in the play-offs at Anfield Seem to remember some tales out of school being told of nights spent in The Granary, and other city haunts of the time which, if true, would have accounted for the performance in the Austrian game when they gave away 3 goals in the last 30 minutes. Can't think of any of the players that night as Iwas living out of town then. Maybe next time they play in Limerick, it will be a full International at Thomond Park. However, he was so bad, they took him off a half-time! The only other memories I have is of the baldy lad in the middle of midfield (dunno his name) for Limerick being brilliant and Paul McGrath being absent which got a mention is his book.
