DAB comes to Limerick

Radiowaves.fm reports that RTE have begun trials of Digital Audio Broadcasting in Cork and Limerick.

Tests on the new broadcasting format began in the Greater Dublin area last year, and with the addition of Cork and Limerick, now 44 percent of the population can now access the service.

DAB might yet turn out to be some white elephant given the number of people who choose to listen to radio on broadband. How many people will require the quality of signal promised by DAB as opposed to the quite adequate FM signal or greater choice of worldwide stations available on-line?
