Garda Dies Following Vaccination

The funeral took place yesterday of Garda Brendan Campbell of Lisnagry. Brendan (49) suffered from an aggressive cancer for four years which was triggered by the Hepatitus B vaccination. Brendan had the mandatory vaccination just before he was due to go on duty in Cyprus. Brendan featured in an article in the Sunday Times last year where he expressed his belief that the Hepatitus B vaccination be optional to gardaí serving overseas.

He received a spectacular send off yesterday at Ahane Church where the Friendship Band from Northern Ireland played. He was due to take an active role in the Mid-Western Cancer Unit fund raiser at Castletroy Park Hotel last night. The event sold out. Brendan died in the early hours of Thursday morning and is survived by wife Goretti, sons Niall and Seán, and many relatives and friends.

I was a friend of Brendan and his very loving family. It was a great shock
to hear of the death of this wonderful kind and dedicated family man. As
quite a number of my friend are members I would as them to think long
and hard about getting the vaccine. I have been lucky that in my own
line of work I have had to get the vaccine and no problems have arisen
    May you rest in peace

Brendan was my very close friend for 30 odd years. We had a great musical life together playing in brass bands. We travelled alot and had the best times together with the Friendship Band. I am a member of the Friendship Band and played at Brendan's funeral mass. It will stay with me forever more. The band played a musical tribute to a wonderful man who loved life and his family. Sean is right about the medical authorities who looked after Brendan. It had been proved that the vaccination caused his illness.
Rest in peace my friend, till we meet again.

    Kieran.

    Sorry Seán for your loss.

I have read that Hep B shots can trigger MS.
(the reason i know this is because i had an MS scare not too long ago, and i remember reading this somewhere...im not going to dig it out again as it worried the crap out of me for quite some time and dont want to go there again)

Garda Brendan Campbell was my father and just by luck I stumbled upon this website. I'm sixteen years old and my brother Niall is twenty, he suffered from cancer for four years and and it was agreed by the proper authorities that the cancer was caused by the vaccine. Thank you everyone for commenting.

CDC centre for disease control here in America is a gret resource.
  • "The entry will scare the gullible into not getting vaccinations, and so cause many more deaths".

This is a baseless criticism. People should absolutely get vaccinations, but suppressing information about cases where vaccinations cause problems is part of what has given them a bad name in the eyes of some.

It's not "anti-vaccine" to point out that a vaccine, such as that for Hep B, causes severe problems in 0.1% of cases (or whatever the percentage is). It's just a factor for people to include in their judgement.

No, I don't believe that I should be the one doing research... If this is supposed to be a journalistic exercise, the "journalist" should give some indication that he has sources, at least, and not that this is pulled out of the air. Are we simply supposed to accept the word of a blogger?

Shannaboley has helpfully listed contra-indications to the use of the specific vaccine (I'd like a source for that, though), which should have been discussed with the Garda in question and if not this would be a case of medical negligence.

Kevin, who wrote this piece, is a biotechnology 2nd year student in Cork, according to the previous blog entries so it is unfortunate that as it is written the entry will scare the gullible into not getting vaccinations, and so cause many more deaths.

Naturally my condolences to the family...

Ok, the vaccine itself is very safe HOWEVER if you have yeast absorbtion problems( you may not even be aware of it ) chrones disease, colitis, liver, kidney problems it would not be a vaccine you should be getting. The introduction of a hep a or hep b virus to someone whose health is compromised even with a temporary flu like condition should be evaluated.
Four years is an incredibly long battle God Bless him.
  • Actually Colm & Michael, after much investigation Garda management now totally accept that Garda Cambell was injured in the line of duty. He was basically being studied as the first person to get this new type of cancer never seen before (I forget what they actually named it now)

So advise that you research topics more carefully before issuing comments which may be hurtful for friends and family. Have a read over the link below:

  • Unfortunately I cannot divulge my sources. Sorry. I would, however, encourage you to do your own research beyond wikipedia if you are concerned.

A leading haemotology consultant has agreed that it is definitely possible that the vaccine triggered a blood disorder which lead on to the aggressive form of lymphoma acknowledging that this would be a rare occurrence.
And, unfortunately, due to its rareness, there is not enough research done on this.

I doubt that you would find any medical expert that would positively confirm that the vaccine could not cause pancytopenia which lead on to the lymphoma.

Wikipedia is not a good source for medical information, use a www.webmd.com I am not sure if it will work over there but I am sure you have some similar version.
  • Colm
RIP but the blaming the vaccine seems like an understandably angry man lashing out and looking for someone to blame so he can rationalise what really isn't rational.
  • Michael P
Do you have any proof that cancer was caused by vaccination? Any study on possible links? Anything?

Or are you just jumping on a scare-story bandwagon worthy of a red-top newspaper... like the MMR scare.

Read about Hep B, instead of parroting what you hear. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/H...
