There was a lot less money around in the 80's, and the band looked a lot smarter, including the brother in the busby, and the lads with the swords. I paid €6 to get a jacket dry-cleaned last month and that was in Dublin.
Anyway I appreciate the cost of doing this for 35 people, and I also take my hat off to anyone involved in these bands, they do a a great and undervalued job., and I think the band are a huge source of pride for the community.
It was great to see the Boherbouy playing in Thomas St at Christmas, it's a pity we don't see more of the city's bands doing this more often especially with the bright nights coming in, it creates a lovely atmosphere around the city

I can understand why people prefer the jackets but as stated before its a waste of precious resources. We brought the boys to Barcelona last year and plan another foreign trip next year. Every euro saved can and is used to part finance this for those who struggle to pay. Its far harder to get the lads into a Kilt than into a jacket! And the kilt is an Irish tradition anyway, unlike the Jackets.

I understand its a waste of what resources you may have, it just seems that its a dress down.I think any time you get a young fella to put on a dress jacket its a good thing! especially kids from disadvantaged areas.

If you wanna help us fundraise you are very welcome. Pipe bands are very expensive to run, most people have no idea how much it costs. If it worries you that much go to www.cbspipeband.org and donate. On the topic of cleaning, 35 jackest to be drycleaned? When did you last bring in a jacket for drycleaning? Its become very expensive and many of the boys in the band come from disadvantaged areas which means the band has to pay, not the parents. Waste of precious resources.

Oh for god sakes all the money in limerick and to revert to janzees hoodies instead of a jacket because of cleaning? They dont look anyway near as good. I like the Kilts though!

Kilts are still there as are the hats. The Jackets are not very practical for a boys band. Loads of upkeep, boys are not the cleanest and the Jackets have to be dry cleaned. Compare this to a hoodie. No contest.

i see what you mean about the uniform
the kilts and blazers were much nicer

CBS Pipe band
They replaced their blazers with blue hoodies.
