Arson attempt: Pineview Gardens

A family had to be evacuated from their home after a burning object was discovered near a gas box attached to their home.

At 0645 hrs, an employee of Limerick City Council saw the smouldering gas box and alerted the family.

Three units of the fire service arrived to the scene.

No one was injured in the incident and Gardai are carrying out house-to-house enquiries in the area.

    Raheen has already been destroyed by families from certain areas being rehoused there.

    It's only a matter of time before the rest of the city is infested by this.

    After paying 300k for a house I dont mind these scallywags might be living next door to me. Lets give them a chance. I am sure if we reward them all with a lovely new place to live, paid by us the tax payer of course that they will see sense and stop their funny antics.. ah shur boys will be boys eh!

    Everyone is on about getting the gangs out of the areas where the regeneration is going on, they won't be rehoused in the areas. What about the ones who are involved with the regeneration board that go to the meetings who say they are all for these changes, some of these people have kids involved in what we would call "petty crime" for instance fighting with their neighbours putting their windows in, being in possession of drugs for personal use, verbally abusing women, threatening behaviour. What will happen in these cases. Some of them hold jobs go to work everyday and carry on like scumbags at the weekends. Will these people who have been before the courts be eligable to be rehoused. Surly this kind of behaviour is ANTI SOCIAL.

    Are you being sarcastic? I see Willie is taking a stance and not entertaining a pow wow with the gangs. That's the only point I see has change and he could do a u- turn on that yet its early days.
