City council in Cahirdavin Library U-turn

Today I am pleased to confirm that Limerick City Council Manager Tom Mackey has given me an assurance that there will be no immediate closure of the Community Library in the Caherdavin Community Centre.

Deputy Peter Power, Fianna Fail TD for Limerick East

After initial fears that Cahirdavin would lose it’s library in favour of the Watch House Cross facility, Limerick City Council have told Peter Power that they will keep Cahirdavin open on a provisional basis.

The Limerick East TD has said he lobbied the council on their decision on behalf of the people of the area.

Now, in order to keep the library open, it is up to the people of Cahirdavin to support it.

Deputy Power had nothing to do with saving Caherdavin library. It was the involvement of Deptuy Kieran O'Donnell, Councillor Cormac Hurley and Caherdavin Residents Association who saved the Library. Own up Deputy Power.....you had nothing to do with it.!!

Have to expand on colm's point - was it every going to close immediately, I mean like right now? Essentially that statement has Zero meat - if it closes next Tuesday, can he justifyable say "well I only said it wasn't closing immediately".

BTW, Squid, didn't you give this website to someone else? What's happening?

Peter Power has broken his vow of silence!!!!!!!

"Great job". Deputy Anonymous claims that the city manager told him that the Library won't close immediately (i.e. this afternoon) and now all of a sudden he is the saviour of the people of Cahirdavin. All he did was get a press release out before Deputy Kieran Invisible O'Donnell.

Lets face facts. When it comes to electing the lowest profile TDs Limerick picked two of the least active.

    Well done Deputy Power,
Thank you for doing a great job.
    Sincerely,
    Johnny.
