Developing: Blaze at Rathbane flats

Sycamore Avenue, Rathbane

Three units of the fire service from Limerick City and Cappamore are on the scene of a blaze at a derelict block of flats on Sycamore avenue in Rathbane.

The alarm was raised at 1400 hrs today.

Gardai are also on the scene of the fire.

    thats actuallly what firemen are well paid to do. although a lot of them are outstandingly brave i dont tthink they need to be applauded every time they do what they are paid to do. and by the way i have a nephew who is a fireman but not in limerick.

    maybe an interview with one of the firemen on the ground. try get an insight into there side of things

    Why not add a "local Hero" aspect to the site... Interview someone that the readers of the blog deem worthy of highlighting for their achievements in the community. No Politicians though

    True , they do an oiutstanding job, most of there work goes uunnoticed.in what way would you like to to see them get mentioned?

    Fire brigade worked hard there for about 5 hrs and they got other calls at the same time , i saw aload of them legging it in to the engines and flying off. They never seem to get a mention for there hard and dangerous work .

    gardai might take notice of what is actually comming in to rathbane from other areas now if they are doing this at 15 what are they going to be like when there older they need to be kept out
