Mark Moloney Murder: 1 man charged

Stephen O'Sullivan outside Limerick District Court

A man has been charged with the murder of Mark Moloney.

At a special sitting of Limerick District Court, Stephen O’Sullivan (pictured) with an address in Galtee View, O’Malley Park, was charged with the murder at approximately 1900 hrs this evening.

During the brief court hearing, it was heard that O’Sullivan was formally carged at 1637 hrs. On hearing the charge, he replied “Not guilty, I didn’t mean to kill him” the court was told.

O’Sullivan was remanded in custody to appear before the court again next Tuesday. He was informed also that the matter of bail was for the High Court to deal with. He was also granted free legal aid.

He was also charged with recklessly discharging a firearm outside a house in O’Malley Park earlier on Saturday.

The ratio between comments being posted by people who don't know how to use spellcheck or capslock and genuine comments is too damn low. This thread is closed.

Remember, this is not bebo, we speak English here, not gobbledegook.

    @sue

I did not make that claim. The claim is that Noel crawford and Mark Moloney have something in common in that they were murdered by feuding gangs even though they weren't involved in any feud. they were both innocent victims of the fued.
  • ann
    hi me

  • BILL
squid/i dont take it personlally but you won,t let me comment on the truth and what is going on around us.
  • Squid
To clarify the above comment by Bill refers to someone else.

    my response to bill:

That is your opinion bill, and you are entitled to it. I'm sorry I have to remove some of your comments but I do so for a good reason.

What you say may be the truth, unfortunately, we are bound by the laws of the land

anyway, hope you don't take it personally.
  • BILL
well squid if he had any idea what was going on around him i suppose he would/nt be were he is tonight.and i ashore you he knew everything.
  • Squid
To clarify re the star. experience has taught me to get a second oppinion on anything that appears in any of the red top papers.
  • Squid
I do but half of what is in the star is overblown.

I am not sure what you are asking of me. If you are asking why I didn't write anything today is because I was occupied with a personal matter all day and was too busy to post.

As for the person you are referring to in your comments, I think you may be getting him mixed up with a relative of his.

I would appreciate it greatly if we could continue this discussion by e-mail until I get a clearer picture of what you are trying to tell me.
  • BILL
come on know squid doo you ever bye the star paper.

  • Squid
possibly because both men have one thing in common, they were innocent and had nothing to do with feuding gangs.

any body that is murdered is well publicised its up to the police know to do there job. .[Mod edit: prejudicial comment removed. remainder of comment intact.] killing mr moloney it stered all there tea .and a very very big mistake.....................................

if the murder investigation is ongoing, (re noel) it could be years before the family even get an inquest)
  • kimmy
Anonymous, i think you'll find that in the aftermath of Noel's death it was also publicised a lot. The sad fact is that after a month or so, it is only the family and friends of these victims that will remember them.

More than likely the next time we hear about Mark, is probably at his murderer's trial. Unfortunately, Noel never had this justice.
  • Anonymous
Noel Crawford was also an innocent man whose life was taken. I strongly disagree with what happened to mark moloney but the same thing happened noel crawford and mark's death is being publicised a lot more
  • kimmy
Exactly, secret admirer, i am sick of hearing what CAB is doing, yet i see drug dealers in their big houses and big cars everyday, where is the justice in that.

I can't see CAB doing anything, why not start with the small guy, after all these are the ones supplying drugs to the kids on the street, take their cars, houses and other assets.

These people are flaunting their wealth, they have never worked, so where did the money come from. we all know the answer to it, so do the cops, but yet they still drive around in their flash cars and ruin our estates.

WHEN IS CAB GOING TO DO SOMETHING ABOUT LIMERICK. HIT THEM WHERE IT HURTS. THEIR POCKETS. TAKE THEIR WEALTH, THEN SEE IF THEY CAN AFFORD TO BUY THEIR DRUGS.
  • secert admirer
is it true a 100 , 1000 is offered for a hit for any one of the dundens heads ihope it is the gangsters of london ran them out of england and we are stuck with them in limerick and all our kids are sfurring over them, none of the drug dealers never worked a day but yet the can drive big cars and have big houses and get away with it
  • secert admirer
mark moloney was a good lookina guy i knew him for years , he could get any girl he wanted pity he never asked me out
  • mad psyco bitch
mark should not have died like that its not fair at the end of the day he was some mothers son aswell it the people that are left behind that had to deal with the grief i just hope that the strong enough they have my deepest taughtswith them every night i do to bee i dream about him
  • eddie
i can understand young guys getting sucked into this gang culture i lived near the dundons in 1977 that would be the fathers and uncles of the younger mafia. they were always calling around to peoples houses asking them to buy stuff or hide stuff they often hid hot gear in peoples gardens i can tell you they were vere intimidating. without saying much i was lucky because i was working and stayed out of their way but i still often oprned my door and they would be their. there was no guns around then so you can imagine what it would have been like if guns were available. you have no protection from the guards if you go to them and tell them that your being bullied they will do nothing so god help those youg kids i would not like to be a young guy in limerick and i can assure you i am well able to look after myself. it is awful
  • Shannaboley
I think he meant no where to go because he had no direction. Most of the estate's have never offered anything for the kids, no after school clubs, no where to go to get help with homework your parent themselves probularly did'nt complete school. The mentality is (your better off looking like a wise ass than a dumb ass in school) no oppurtunity's drop out rates are huge drunken fathers (if any) mothers whos only role played well is that of a victim! .The kids become targets, victims themselves theses gangs catch them when they are young and have yet to establish there own solid values they take on the low value of others.
I am speaking of kids in general not of this particular young man.
  • mary
why had he nowhere to go? Thats a ridiculous thing to say to justify him.....it is terrible cause he is a good looking youngfella....but there are plenty of places for 18 year olds to 'go'...like school, college, work or training......
  • arse_over_tits
He is a kid...and a very bright kid let down by our systems for helping young people from awful backgrounds.
This kid was an easy target roaming the streets with nothing on,no-where to go and who better to spot this than the dundons.
Come join our gang...here have a go on this gun and do our dirty work..rat and we will kill you.

in future, count to 20 before you post.

MG, he is a child. This is what i am saying about kids being intimidated into doing things for these gangs. I have seen it first hand, where teens are told to take guns and hide them, if they refuse these creeps, then they wind up either getting badly beaten up, or even shot.

People are terrified to stand up to these people, for god's sake, i'm an adult and i wouldn't stand up to them, so what hope have these kids.
  • Shannaboley
Hes looks like a kid! I understand kims fear he could blend with a soccer team!.
