We did not dump fuel over land – Murray Air

A spokesperson for cargo contractor Murray Air has told RTE’s Liveline programme that one of their planes which made an emergency landing at Shannon Airport did not dump any fuel over land.

The Murray Air flight had just taken off from Shannon when the plane experienced a technical fault. Tracey Belle, director of administration for the company told Joe Duffy that the issue was caused by a “compressor stall.

Ms Bell said that the stall resulted in the flamout which residents of Askeaton and Shannon witnessed as the aircraft was returning to Shannon at 2230 hrs on Friday.

She also stated that the aircraft hadn’t enough time to dump it’s fuel and made a heavy landing at the airport.

Ms Bell however became less fortright when questioned about what cargo the aircraft was carrying.

While the company has licensing to transport explosives as well as permission to land at Shannon, Ms Belle denied that there were explosives on the flight on this occasion.

The Air Accident Investigation unit of the Department of Transport are investigating the incident.

    Mickey's mickey Says:

"No evidence is the Governments standard line. I like many others believe that the US military should not be transporting anything through Shannon Airport no matter what permissions are granted by this weak kneed government."

    That is a different argument.

Under cross examination by Edward Horgan and Joe Duffy today, Tracey Bell, Director of administration for Murray Air, admitted that explosives had been brought through Shannon on previous occasions:

Joe Duffy - Murray Air could carry explosives through Shannon?

Tracey Bell - I can confirm that, yes sir.

Joe Duffy - Have you carried explosives through Shannon?

Tracey Bell - I believe so, yes sir.

Joe Duffy - ... for the American Army?

    Tracey Bell - Yes sir.

These confessions were extracted without waterboarding or through the use of other forms of outlawed torture.

It was asked by Edward Horgan whether Murray Air had carried Depleted Uranium through Shannon. Tracey said she didn't know, but when pressed confirmed that their license allowed for them to carry DU through Shannon.

Why would one bother getting such a license if one didn't intend to use it?

What issue? Plane made an emergency landing so big deal.

There is no evidence that it was carrying anything that it should not be carrying.

Actually, Squid, the spokeswoman made a far more disturbing admission, confirming that the airline transports depleted uranium ammunition.
