"Limerick City Councillors have found a way to put the kybosh[sic] on plans by Limerick City Manager, Tom Machkey[sic], to push forward plans for so called “gree”[sic] bus routes."

Why oh why oh why do so many muppets in Ireland drive everywhere alone in their 4+ passenger car and consistently demand they have priority over public transport. Theres always the same old complaints that they can't use public transport because its unreliable - but its pretty obvious that its unreliable precisely because of the congestion caused by those same people.

Petrol prices continue to rise and fill the government coffers, and the government solution to daily traffic gridlock is to build bigger wider roads 10 years too late at extravagant cost or sell the road-building off to private companies who charge tolls above and beyond the road and petrol taxes already being paid by motorists.

And now in their great wisdom, some righteous idiots are blocking the development of bus lanes in this gridlocked town. Castletroy is now covered with bicycle lanes, but buses are constantly delayed by one person per car traffic.

Lovely reporting by the Limerick Leader also - actually stating why people were opposed to the bus lanes would have been nice. They appear to be enthralled by the machinations of local politics yet fail to report any actual facts on why anyone in their right mind would be against better public transport in Limerick city.
