In with the new

While the camera was out, some photos of two of the newer additions to the City. First off is the new skate park just off the Dock Rd at Steamboat quay. This photo is taken from the Shannon bridge

Next up, more photos of the new Thomond Park. The end game construction wise is beginning to approach as both stands are well under way.

Seats are being put in one of the stands. Apparently the seats are going to be three colours, red blue and yellow, with the dominant colour of course being red!! The reason for this is that apparently on occasions when the stands are not full that by doing the seats in different colours it will create the illusion that there are more people there than actually are!! Apparently this is the norm in some new stadiums.

    More so in the last 4 years. The last game I was at there at least 100 seats in the stand empty, and plenty of room behind the posts

    Really looking forward to heading up to Thomond Park when I'm at home this weekend.
    I wish the powers that be would build more facilities like skateparks, theatre/concert venue, cinema, pitches,pools etc.
    They seem to be only interested in building bland shopping centres with non descript shops.

    Just to point out that Thomond Park was not always full for Heiniken Cup games when the capacity was under 14000.

    I cant see them filling Thomond Park if Munster are not in contention for a place in the 1/4 final, or are out of the running for the celtic league!!

    This could be the greatest white elephant of all time!!!

    But I doubt it!!!!

    All I can say is WOW. Finally Limerick are getting some good press. Not from Limerick myself so nice to see that.

    The skate park, drove by on Sat and looked like everyone having great fun, as for Thomond Park, MASSUF Munster fan and this is going to be the start of a great life for Limerick people. Hope they go with the idea of having concert there too. But cant see it ever being not full!!!!
