Fatal road accident on Rathkeale Bypass
A man has died and another is in a serious condition following a crash between a car and a lorry on the Rathkeale bypass overnight.
Emergency services responded to the incident which occurred at 0230 hrs and the injured man was taken to the Mid Western Regional hospital for treatment.
The road was closed for several hours as Gardai carried out their investigation, however it has since re-opened.
The man who died is reported to have been a passenger in the car, and is in his 30s, while the injured man is said to have been the car’s driver.
