“Halloween” when i hear this word all that comes to my mind is “trick or treat” every Halloween some children gather to go to houses and say trick or treat this event started long time ago, I miss the old days when i was the one saying trick or treat.

Starkie, your goin on like a nobhead. 90% of those people were caught thru ratting and not from garda interigation – or self volunteered statements eg owen treacy – what garda work was involved with that again? if he died, those 5 would never have been caught

So well done to the gardai for having ears, aren’t they fantastic. I live near the gang ye all go on about. i know some of the small frys and seen some of them grow up from innocent (not scummy at all – seriously!) youngfellas to bein sucked into this “gangsta” lifestyle and that’s all it is to them is about bein cool and havin a name and puttin guns on their bebo pages.

the gardai do fuck all, i mean fuck all. they don’t even search them when they pull them and instead have the oul banter with them and take a slaggin. it’s sad but true, half the gaurds are afraid of em

if you have evidence of corruption by certain members of the guardai, then bring it to the attention of the chief superintendant, but i bet you havent got any evidence, anybody can make a sweeping statement like that. you say they havent locked up any significant criminals well how about these then. the five guys who murdered kieran keane, all big players in limericks underworld. also wayne and john dundon two very danderous people. big fish, too. gary campion, and his brother william, two sadistic killers, now safely behind bars. cowboy hanley a very big fish indeed. a guy named mcnamara who got life for murdering a guy called odonohoue in broad street, he was a big player in limericks underworldi and dozens of other guys doing years for drugs, would take me all night to name them . not of course forgetting liam keane and his ally who areboth on remand for carrying a gun. they also got cristy keane who was believed to be the godfatherof crime in limerick. and the ones who are still at large dont have a life style they are looking over their shoulders every time they come out of their hovels sopme of them have been shot others stabbed, what a great life they have.

|’d have to agree with Pat Johnston. The Gardai in this city are a joke. The criminals/scumbags have been running rings around them for years. Some of the Gardai/Detectives are more corrupt than the criminals themselves and that’s always been half the problem. There are, of course, some genuine Gardai in there but with lack of resources and a proper justice system, the criminals, in essence, still run this city. It’s always been a case of ‘you scratch my back’… ‘I’ll scratch yours’.

The Gardai don’t want to be directly involved and who could blame them. They are not equipped. Even with the new fan dangle ’starship trooper’ get up, it’s not going to make a blind bit of a difference. Their intention- scare tactics. Not much use. The Gardai will tell you that there are no gangs in Limerick and feuding has stopped. They make a couple of arrests every now and then just to keep the media and public happy, make it look like they are trying to tackle the problem, when in fact these guys are released shortly afterwards, usually without charge and a file sent to the DPP – waste of tax payers money! They are making no significant arrests, just small fry. They need to tackle the big frys so to speak.

starkie….every Saturday when teenagers are in Limerick city, there is at least one instance of random assult & mugging by scumbag teenagers. The usual garda advice(if they decide to turn up & if they even bother to take notes) is usually for the victim to forget about it.

Limerick has been badly let down by the Gradai over the years through their incompetence, laziness and cowardice in certain situations. They have have taken everything that the state has to offer and given F All in return. To allow them to escape their share of blame for what has happended in this city is not credible.

They have allowed a crowd of illiterate thugs destroy the lives of many people in this city. We are hardly talking about master criminals here, just a shower of low lives.

I don’t share your vote of confidence in “jim browne willie keane and john kerins”

me says.you say i shouldnt idolise the guards for the dismantling of the gangs, thats their job you say, well when ever i have someone do work for me i usually thank them and of course i pay them but im still glad that theirs people available do the jobs, and btw, they are usually foreingers the irish dont seem to want to work. so jim browne willie keane and john kerins i salute you and your colleagues for a god job done in putting away some of the most savage people in limerick. you might be beter off helping the gurdai instead of critiscing them from the comfort and safety of your computer. they have locked up dozens of these scum and they will bring down the others too.

pat johnston. a lot of this wasnt the fault of the cops, a lot of it was the fault of the governments who failed the judiciary and the cops by not bringing in extra powers. even at that its not an easy task to gain evidence to put these people in the dock, even in america where the cops have a lot of powers. like phone tapping, the hoods still find their way around the law, mafia for instance. i strill stand by my opinion that the cops in limerick are doing well against the hoods. they will never bve able to put them all away, they cant even do that in russia where they have very severe laws. same in brazil the uk, australia is even riddled with crime.
