Hopefully Ryanair will expand at shannon and create even more routes to central Europe, along with a new route to Ibiza as Ryanair are doing exceptionally well with the Spanish routes based at shannon

New routes from Shannon are OK, but Shannon to London routes are becoming non-existant. Where will that leave the thousands who travel/have travelled that route and would like to continue Aer Lingus gave it up in place of Belfast which has not been lucrative at all. Talk about "cutting off nose to spite face". Ryanair would do well to note.

These announcements should be welcomed. At least O'Leary and Ryanair seem to be trying to promote Shannon (unlike some other carriers) and are at least trying to introduce some new routes there (and reintroduce old ones like Frankfurt-Hahn).

@Hoof,

They (Ryanair) did announce the new Shannon-Turin route, circa start of September. It may have been overlooked by the mdia due the fact that at the same time, they introduced some new ski routes from Dublin and Kerry. See link:

Fair enough Tom, yes they used operate the route a few years back before moving it to Kerry. This is the way they announced it yesterday. I don't recall them operating a Frankfurt-Hahn service since summer. Surprised no mention of the Turin service on this, unless that had been introduced in the interim.

excerpt from Ryanair.com/news :
.....Ryanair will base a 6th aircraft in Shannon which will allow it to launch 2 new routes to Frankfurt-Hahn and Newcastle and 26 more weekly frequencies to destinations like Bristol, Edinburgh and Paris. This 6th aircraft, which is a further $70M investment by Ryanair in Shannon, will generate over 100 more jobs at the airport this winter.....

Brilliant news with the new routes out of shannon!!!

Mr o'Leary states due to the new routes this will effect the East Midlands to Shannon service which will cease as of October the 31st.
I have flights booked for the Munster v All Blacks since June and Ryanair send me the following mail last night:

*****Ryanair wish to advise that due to a strike by Boeing, our aircraft supplier, that unfortunately it has been necessary to change the arrival/departure airport on one or both of your booked flights. Flights operating on certain days will now operate to/from Birmingham Airport which is 60KM south-west of East Midlands Airport.*******

I smell a rat, so Ryanair what is it to be we have two stories here its either the new routes or Boeing are on strike!!
