Beware of Limerick Taxi's from the bus station. Yesterday got really overcharged. Took me to my destination which was 2.1 km. Charged me 9 Euros. Got the receipt which says distance 2.1 fare 8.25 Extras 1 Total 9.25
Daylight robbery. What's all this about and what's the Extra?

i dont know how these guys stay sane. its one hell of a stressful job. 12 hour shifts 7 days a week, yes they make a wage but who would begrudge it to them, a hard game.

It seems every taxi driver in the country is against this rise. Yet the Regulator persists with implementing it.

The €100+ per cab tax for meter sealing is the only reason this is going through. While people are going to curtail using cabs or give the drivers grief for putting up the price, probably throwing in a lecture on falling petrol prices when they do.

No row back on this little earner for Revenue.

I've talked to a few taxi drivers who will not be putting up their prices. It costs about 150 euro or more, plus half a working day, to get your meter adjusted and resealed. 100 of this is a special tax on meter sealing.

The 8% increase just doesn't justifly the cost of changing the meter.
