Channel South to launch this week

At 1900 hrs on Monday a new television station dedicated to counties Cork, Limerick and Clare will begin officially broadcasting on the UPC cable network.

Channel South, which will be the latest addition to the City Channel range, is hoped to produce locally targetted programme for the region.

Already Galway and Dublin have local channels.

From what can be gleaned from the test transmissions promotions, it seems to be a TV version of the Evening Echo, all Cork, Cork, Cork with a token shot of Riverpoint between the “Ooh! Cork is getting a new TV station” statements.

The channel is availible on 107 on the Digital Cable network.  Channel South is unavailible on analog.

The news taped in advance !

Brilliant, what time do they give out the horse racing results, I'll have to sit in on the recording session before scattering out to the bookies'.

terrible looking channel. there news segments seem to be taped alot in advance. i managed to see their 10pm news segment at 8pm this evening on their website.

Can't say I tuned in too much, but it just seems to be an endless succession of plugs for programmes that never seem to come on air or an excuse to play music videos between the plugs and adverts.

So from what I've seen of Channel South, Cork are welcome to it.
