Just a brief  note to let you know that tomorrow’s march will not now go ahead.

We have been asked just to let you know.

Just back from Baker Place, not because of the march, was just passing to go shopping, but there was a good few people standing there in the rain, unkowing of the cancellation, I was talking to a friend I met there that did not know either. Everybody was stunned certainly.

I'm not one of the organisers so all i can tell you is that those who were organising it decided to cancel it, and contacted the media to let people know it was cancelled.

    Hi,

I have followed this and it did seem to be a "bottom up" event as I think it was first flagged here. I am just wondering who "asked to let you know"? Obviously, if it was someone close to Shane's family its totally understandable. But if its someone else then who?

Hi can anybody please tell me why this march was cancelled? I think it would have attracted a massive crowd of decent people from Limerickl who are appalled by what went on. I sincerely hope the gaurds or the scum had no input to this cancelleation. Its a shame...

i think that the march was organised on foot of the extreme outrage, anger and disbelief, there was probably not enough time to co-ordinate such an event with true accuracy, maybe out of respect for the grieving process of shanes family and close friends, it is better this way, but having said that, i get the impression from other threads that people might feel somewhat demoralised and hopeless due to cancellation.
the march should be organised from the ground up and should really have the concensus of the people and the councillors that it is organised and thought through by the people and the guardians of law and order and peaceful living, having the march to-day could have been overly emotive and therefore counter productive, it does not mean that we should give up, it does afford everyone the opportunity to organise and execute a more positive demonstration of the wishes of the people. it is only respectful to allow the grieving process its time, and in that time we should all remain firm in our resolve for change

    Why????????????????

    Hi Squid,
Thank you so much for letting everyone know about the cancellation. I'm sure lots of people wouldn't have known otherwise.
    God bless,
    Johnny.

Right. Yap. Same-o. So this is where all the outrage goes, this is all the yaba-daba-do. No next dates, nothing. Limerick doing nothing again. All bla-bla-bla and no action. Very dissapointing. Someone got scare or what?

Limerick Leader "Organisers say that due to circumstances beyond their control the planned march cannot go ahead this weekend."

Sounds highly suspicious, I would love to know what those circumstances actually are. I wonder if it will go ahead at some other time.
