Pull the plug on PDs – O’Malley

The founder of the Progressive Democrats, Des O’Malley, has called on party members to wind the organisation up.

In a letter read to deligates at a meeting in Mullingar to decide the future of the party, he said that it was time for members to face the facts.

While there is a motion to keep the party going to be put forward at the meeting, senior members, such as party leader Ciaran Cannon as well as other Oireacteas members of the party believe it is time to call it a day.

A decision on the future of the party will be reached this weekend.
