It’s handbags at the ready in yet another Fianna Fail Feud
And so begins yet another conflageration within the Fianna Fail Party, or so it is reported in the County Edition of the Limerick Leader tomorrow.
The whole thing kicked off this week when Limerick County Councillor, Noreen Ryan, wrote to the Taoiseach Brian Cowan calling for him to sack Minister for Defence, Willie O’Dea.
The call comes after it emerged this week that the Defence Minister, during his tennure as Junior Minister for Justice, facilitated representations on behalf of 29 prisoners, including a murder suspect and a number of drug dealers. He himself says he was simply relaying requests from the families of the prisoners.
He made representations on behalf of one drug dealer seeking temporary release for Christmas and another who was seeking the same so that he could get married.
In her letter to the Taoiseach, as revealed by the paper tomorrow, Cllr Ryan said that convicted criminals “should not be aided and abetted by anyone in Government or by anyone in the Fianna Fail Party.”
In response, Minister O’Dea said that as a person, Councillor Ryan was “utterly without credibility.”
“This is a grab for publicity to conceal her inactivity and lack of percormance as a councillor,” Minister O’Dea said.
The full story is on the front page of the paper tomorrow. My spidey sences tell me one of these two will not be in Fianna Fail come the next election.
