Concern for jobs in Kostal

Car components manufacturer Kostal which employs some 600 people in Abbeyfeale and 400 more in Mallow  are to make an announcement tomorrow which in all probability will result in job losses.  Workers have been on reduced time since last month and many only returned this week after an enforced absence.  Staff are to be advised of the situation tomorrow morning and an official announcement is expected shortly afterwards.

UPDATE: Workers were informed this morning that 300 jobs are to go at the company.

200 positions are to go at Abbeyfeale and 100 are to go in Mallow.

    worked in kostal for almost twenty years.... unless you you were a lick arse and got on well with a boss called (***** Mod edit- no names) you hadnt a hope of getting on in the place..... its top heavy and only for the fact that the operators were paid the minimum wage and got nothing but abuse the company wouldnt have been such a success in abbeyfeale....

    wonder will the kostal workers be in for the pleas of morgage freeze, special task force, special clinics etc as the dell workers,,,,,,this is exactly why dell workers wont get any extra help or assistance. they cant give it to dell workers and not the others

    Its bleak looking , costello windows and doors in Glin have shut down production temporary until orders come in .
