Teenager stable after city stabbing

A 17 year old boy is in a stable condition in the Intensive Care Unit at the Midwestern Regional Hospital after an overnight stabbing attack.

The teenager, reported to be from Nenagh, County Tipperary, sustained four stab wounds to the back when he was attacked at the Jury’s Inn Roundabout at approximately 0120 hrs this morning.  No motive for the attack has yet been established, and Gardai are said to be examining CCTV footage from around the area.

Members of the public who may have witnessed the attack, or who may have information that would be of assistance, are asked to contact Henry Street Garda Station.

The scene of the attack, as well as an area infront of the Riverpoint tower were sealed off by investigating Gardai.

I agree, more of a police presence on the streets is needed. Can't remember the last time I saw some police on foot patrol.

I think they should have the right to stop anybody suspicious and search them. I personally would not be bothered if I was stopped and searched as I know I would not be carrying anything illegal. Sure it would not be the most pleasant thing to happen to you, epically in a busy street, but if the overall practice was to benefit society as a whole I could live with it.

the scumbags are at it again i see.

The CCTV cameras would have to be at street level or embedded in concrete to even have a hope of identifying a "hoodie". These little fucks know where every camera is,watch them scut around town-mafiosi wannabes putting their arms up if they are in the full gaze of a camera.

I've heard of a novel idea which is gathering pace and is popular in many other European countries. It involves the local police making themselves more visible by patrolling the streets on foot and in numbers, only using mobile back-up when coming across an incident. These police have the power to search suspected felons for weaponry/drugs/stolen goods and can demand that legitimate ID be produced on the spot.

Probably wouldn't catch on here.....interfere with their rights!

cctv is all well and good but all he had to do was have his hood up, which he probably had, and he's away with it

You have riverpoint cctv, jurys cctv and + a few other business on that road. I'm sure this will be an easy capture.

not too bright either doing this in town with loads of traffic around that roundabout.

I passed by there at 4am this morning after work. Wondered why there were a couple of detectives parked up beside the roundabout.

Hope the lad is okay and thet they catch whoever is responsible. Some good CCTV in that area i would imagine.
