The fire service had a somewhat busy Monday morning, dealing with three fires on the northside. The first on Brendan Street, St. Mary’s park, where a car was completely destroyed, at approximately 0300 hrs, the second at 0400 was a house in Moyross, and a fire at a chipper on St. Munchin’s Street, St. Mary’s Park at 0645 hrs.
A Limerick born primary school teacher has received a three year prison sentence for indecent assault on a 12 year old girl back in 1982. Patrick O’Connell, who had an address at Seacrest in Galway, pleaded guilty to the offences committed between April and June of 1982 at the Central Criminal Court yesterday.
His victim, now a 39 year old mother of three said that since the attack, she feared being alone with any man apart from her husband and her father.
