Another Madamme booted out of city

A woman from the Czech Republic was given 48 hours to get out of Limerick City after she pleaded guilty to operating a brothel in the city centre.

Judge Tom O’Donnel of the District Court was told that, after a week long surveilance operation,  Gardai searched an apartment on Harvey’s Quay at 0025 hrs on Thursday morning, and found Blanka Vapenikova (24) of no fixed abode, these included a number of mobile phones, a laptop, a notbook containing a list of clients, and sex aids.  €150 in cash was also seized.

Vapenikova was ordered to forfeit the laptop and the mobile phones, she was however, allowed to keep the cash to fund her exit from the city.

@Cludio, you remind of a tale we were told by a Limerick born Merchant Seaman (no puns please) who, back from his travels, delighted in telling us one night that the local ladies of TreeTrunk-Legs Lane (aka O'Curry St/Dock Rd) had been voted the worst looking hookers in Europe at a bar-room ballot held on the "fringes" of a Maritime conference in Buenos Aires.

    Fame at last !

I dont get it - why do they give her back the money ? Why dont they just keep the money and book her the first cheap flight out of here?

Also - when it says she has to "leave the city" does that mean she just has to go to another town/city or leave the country ?

Better off kicking them out of the country anyway - all these hot Eastern European Prostitutes are destroying business for the poor fifty year old, fat prostitutes that used to rule the roost on O'Curry street !!

€150 euro?? Jeez....she was not doing much business. The recession must have hit hard. Well I suppose one good thing to come out of this. Vacancy for a Madamme to run a brothel in the city centre. Wonder if they will post it in the Limerick Leader? Should be interesting!!

hoof,i wonder will they be playing the beach boys good vibrations at that party? just wanted to give that a plug.

Another Gripping Crime Story from Limerick. You have to hand it to the boys in blue. They know a soft target when they see one. I wonder how much overtime was clocked up during the 'week long surveilance operation'. I'm sure there must be someone in Henry Street with a very strong interest in the sex trade to be allocating the amount of resources necessary for these major crime busts. What a joke. Then again. This is Ireland.

Obviously the recession hasn't hit that industry yet. New businesses popping up all over the city? Are these the green shoots I keep hearing about?
  • countrygirl
they could have left her the laptop to book a ryanair flight at least.

Henrik, they've been detained under the Offences against the Person Act, 1956, and may be used to probe goings on at the Garda Christmas Party.
  • grimm
Will she just move to Ennis/Nenagh?Cork/Ballydahiphop/Killmetoo and keep her business going?
  • I'm not suprised they let her keep the money.

They gave Patrick Neary wads of cash to get rid of him and he screwed millions of people.

"after a week long surveilance operation"

Crist on a cracker (if you pardon the ole French!), all that time spent 'undercover' *cough* and they still probably didn't nab the actual pimp running the show!

Pity the local Gardai don't spend as much time staking out the local criminal element running the city at the mo!

Is it the Religous Police that raid these places..
"You can't do that type of thing here"
"We'll have to fumigate the place with Holy Water"

Ok.. it should be stop if these woman are held under a sex-trafficgang..

But if there are their own business.. then let it be..
It's one of the oldest professions in the world..
Still enjoyed by many to this day... :-)
