Peter clings to power in junior minister shake-up

Peter Power has retained his position of junior minister at the Department of Foreign Affairs, following the shake up of the Junior Ministers by Taoiseach, Brian Cowen.

The news that he was being kept on, and would remain responsible for Irish Aid, was given during a five minute meeting with Cowen.

North Tipperary’s Maire Hoctor was not so lucky. She was one of seven Junior Ministers booted out of office along with Noel Ahern, John McGuinness, Micheal Kitt, Sean Power, Mary Wallace and Jimmy Devins.

There are two new Junior ministers, Aine Brady from Kildare, and Dara Calleary of Mayo

    Good man Peter, keep that gravy train rolling and fuck the begrudgers. And after voting the 53,000 euro parachute payment for Maire Hoctor and company Peter can sleep peacefully knowing that he also voted to take that measly extra week pension payments from our old folks at Christmas. Now thats what I call a real man...fucks ye over every chance he gets cos he knows ye're all gonna vote him back in at the next election anyway. Sure a man of his caliber shouldn't even have to knock on doors. All hail the might Peter

    Why indeed would the Minister for Getting the Irish a bit of Aid (Please and Soon), bother with knocking on doors.......sure isn't that all the Little Corporal does? Why imitate the master?

    Ah well, at least he gets a nice fat pension once he gets turfed out - no piggyback from Mr Two Quotas tasher - next time out.

    So what if he has survived. He has done nothing for Limerick.

    Same with Willie O'Dea. We need a minister who is working for Limerick in Government, not somebody who spends his life door knocking. The time for this silly nonsense is long gone.

    Yes he is being rewarded for towing the party line and not ruffling any feathers. During the recent Dell layoffs I wrote to every TD in the Limerick area by post and e-mail complaining about the initial bad redundancy offer. Peter Power was the only TD in the limerick area to not reply to me.

    That is great news. Glad to see PP being rewarded for towing the FF party line and for turning his back on the region with respect to the Shannon-heathrow fiasco sometime back
