Election Diary 08.05.09

You have a whole week to throw your hat into the ring for the European and Local elections.   As was the case last election, I will be doing an “independents day” post over the weekend.  Anyway, here is a brief summary of what has been going down in politics land over the last 24 .

  • Want to protect your kids from Fianna Fail on the internet?  Fear not! there is a firefox plug in that modifies web pages to replace Fianna Fail with “Fianna Failure” and references to Brian Cowen are replaced with “Biffo,” which we are informed is an acronym for “big Ignorant Fucker from Offaly.”  You can get the plugin here.
  • Leader of the Green Party, John Gomley was in Limerick to meet local election candidates, Trish Forde Brennan and James Nix.  Amongst the places they visited was LimerickYouth Services.
  • Alan Kelly of the Labour Party is not the Messiah, He’s a very naughty boy!  Using Oireacteas stationary for election purposes.
  • Independent candidate Jack Burke has moved to allay fears that he had a health scare while out canvassing during the week.  Speaking to the Limerick Leader, he said that his visit to hospital during the week was a pre-arranged check-up, and that he was given the all clear healthwise.  Burke decided to run as an independent after he failed to get a nomination from the Fianna Fail party.

A quiet day today.  There were no election related releases received today.
