County Councillor accused of slurring Moyross people

A letter issued by Fianna Fail county councillor Kevin Sheehan assured people in his local electoral area of “”a very definite guarantee that there will not be any people coming from Moyross or any other part of Limerick to the new council houses” in Askeaton has been accused of slurring Moyross people.

However, the Councillor remains defiant stating that his constituents are concerned about anti-social behaviour from potential tenants from other parts of the county.

The letter was sent out before the local election, despite the fact that no one houses on Church Street in the town are not even wanted by anyone from Moyross.

So, iif you are from Moyross, do you understand where Cllr Sheehan is coming from, as he has subsequently claimed, or is this just populist snobbery on his part?

Can you blame him. The fact is there are scumbags being re-located all over the county and all we hear about is how they are causing trouble whereever they go. Time for the do gooders to stop talking out their ar&*s. Nobody wants to take the chance of anybody from moyross moving in beside them, as there is a very good chance that you will have scumbags living next door. Straight away the value of your house will drop, say what you like but this is fact.

Has anybody pointed out to him that askeaton is worse than moyross .Moyross has more activities and community initiatives than askeaton ever will

This is part of the problem Moyross people had at the start of the regeneration, some decent people thought they were going to be moved to Cahirdavin and surrounding areas but were afraid the locals would shun them and their children, they thought they would be classed as the rent allowance lot, ( by that I mean the one who vacate their homes for a stupid reasons and declare them selves homeless to get a daycent gaff)

So no-one from Askeaton will be getting one of these houses then? How very kind of him to open up those houses to people of the 31 other counties.
How the hell can he 'guarantee' that? Does he hand pick the tenants himself?

As a former resident of Moyross would I be welcome there if I bought a home on a private estate? Probably not now that I think of it.

You you may not like it but his job is to represent _his_ constituents.

This is what happens when you have a highly parochialised system like we have in Ireland. Any politician will find it very hard to resist any parish-pump protest or nimbyist agenda no matter how unappealing if he or she wants to get elected.

Imagine, the house next door has been vacant for some time. Suddenly the "SOLD" sticker goes up and you wonder who's moving in. Then the HSE coming along by stealth in the dead of night and the following morning, to your family's' absolute horror, you discover a member of one of the most reviled and hated shower of gangsters has been landed on your doorstep.

The notion of a Fianna Fáil County Councillor for a neighbour must fill any heart with dread.

Kevin Sheehan is a snob. There's good & bad everywhere. Some of the nicest people I've ever known came from Moyross. In saying that, I wouldn't want to live there myself.
