Buy My Dress !

Friday, May 27th, 2011

Every woman always needs a new dress !

Downs SyndromeCentre have come up with a great way to raise money which will involve donating a dress if you want and the opportunity to buy a new one.

All over the country dresses are being donated so they can be sold on. “Buy me a dress day” has been going for 3 years, this is the 1st year the event has come to Limerick, to date they have raised €90,000 .
The dresses will be on sale at the Parkway Shopping Centre on May 28th between 10am-6pm

All the money raised will go to Downs Syndrome Centre, more information about this great service can be found on their website  http://downsyndromecentre.ie/

Last year some 4,000 dresses were sold, and if you are in the mood to catch a bargain this will be the place to be.

Dresses normally retailing from €100 upwards, will now be on sale at a recession busting €20 to €50.

In the meantime, women across Limerick are still being urged to dig out their old (or new) dresses that they no longer wear in aid of a good cause.

Avril Kenny, the event organiser in Limerick, said: “Women simply love fashion and the idea that good money spent on a past garment can be converted into funds for charity, has great appeal.

“I am asking all the ladies of Limerick to give a dress – it may be too big, too small, or an impulse purchase gone wrong – and to drop it off at one of the many points established throughout Limerick.”

There are 19 locations in Limerick at which dresses can be dropped off.

See www.buymydress.ie for more details.
