Twilight Racing for Limerick Race Course

Friday, May 20th, 2011

Imagine all the heart pounding excitement of a race meeting compressed into 3 hours complete followed by live music and entertainment. Then look no further than Limerick Racecourse this summer, as Twilight Racing gets underway on Saturday 11th June.
The Twilight evenings at Limerick Racecourse are a social highlight on the calendar and when the racing stops the party keeps going… This year is no different with the following acts confirmed to play, Ryan Sheridan, Delorentos and Mad for Road.
On Saturday June 11th, chart topper Ryan Sheridan will entertain the crowds after racing with a 2 hour show of his hits. Ryan is making rapid headway to becoming one of Ireland’s top solo artists, his debut album “The Day You Live Forever has gone straight into Irish Album charts at No.2. Keep a close eye on the album charts this week as it is expected that Ryan will knock Adele of the top spot.. An inventive and crafty guitarist with a powerful and expressive voice, Ryan’s performance is sure to entertain. As a songwriter, he has crammed a lot of living into his days, and this is reflected in his expressive and accessible approach to words and music.

On Friday June 17th, popular Irish Band Delorentos will perform at Limerick Racecourse. Having enjoyed chart topping hits with songs such as “Stop and “Secret – this is a band you will not want to miss. Delorentos played with the likes of Idlewild, Gang of Four, Bell X1 and The Futureheads in locations such as London, New York City, Chicago and Toronto.

On Thursday 21st July, Limerick’s own Mad for Road will grace the stage at the racecourse. Having recently come to prominence on the All-Ireland Talent Show, the trad band, Jimmy, Gearóid, Brian, Kieran and Pádraig, has become renowned for their vibrant energy on stage almost as much as their musical talent! They put their own spin on it, all the while keeping it trad and hugely entertaining.

Russell Ferris, General Manager of Limerick Racecourse “This is without doubt my favourite time of the year at Limerick Racecourse, the Twilight Races bring together all things good about the horse racing, the great entertainment and most of all the craic as Greenmount Park explodes in music. This year the music lineup is excellent, with three very different musical acts performing over the three dates. I am delighted that we have Ireland’s newest music sensation in Ryan Sheridan playing, having seen Ryan in concert at the Olympia over Christmas, he is a class act and is sure to bring the roof down on the 11th June. The twilight races are not only about the racing and the music, but a large part of their success are the packages on offer such as the BBQ packages and the Panoramic Restaurant offers which encompass all aspects of the race experience in one Value price.
The racing action starts at 5.30pm with 7 races played out in a fast-paced format, matched by plenty of spectacle off the track. The racing finishes around 8.30pm but the party kicks on till late…don’t miss it! For the complete entertainment experience come to the Irish Daily Mirror Twilight Racing at Limerick Racecourse this summer – we promise you will not be disappointed. And that is not all the party continues in Clohessy’s Sinbin Nightclub with free admission for all patrons of Twilight racing. Just bring your race card to redeem your entry. Enjoy the craic, the atmosphere, the tips, the bets and hopefully a few winners at one of our Twilight race meetings this summer.
